SPOTLIGHT SERIES: JUSTJEEVES216

Meet Jordan, a 30-year-old man from the great commonwealth of Kentucky, is a dedicated member of Alpha Dogs. He has been married to his wife since 2014 and holds a bachelor's degree in social work, currently in the process of getting licensed.

Jordan is passionate about raising awareness for men's mental health and suicide prevention. He believes that as men, we are often overlooked when it comes to mental health, and society tells us to "man up" and get over our issues. Growing up in the Appalachian region of the country, he has experienced firsthand the stigma that surrounds men expressing their true emotions. In this culture, showing vulnerability is often seen as a sign of weakness, and men are expected to hide their feelings and emotions and be strong for others. Jordan believes that we need to change this narrative and encourage men to be open with each other about their emotions to prevent them from bottling up and exploding later on.

As a member of Alpha Dogs, Jordan is committed to raising awareness and support for men's mental health and suicide prevention. He believes that through the power of gaming, we can make a difference in the lives of men who are struggling with their mental health. Jordan is excited to be a part of a community that shares his values and looks forward to making a positive impact.

What pushed you to become a social worker?

I would say I always had a sense of social justice and wanting to make the world a better place in any way that I could.

Have you ever experienced severe depression, and do you mind sharing what it was and what you did to overcome it?

I have experienced severe depression. It started when my mother passed away and I just spiraled down to a very dark place that I felt like I would never come out of. I overcame that depression with help from my family and my doctor. But time. Time is what helped me overcome it the most. Time really does heal all.

Anything else you would like to share to the Alpha Dog community?

Just that I'm extremely happy to be here and can't wait to see what this community has in store for the future! And to all the new people, I can't wait to get to know all of you!
